Jon Bon Jovi won the Nobel Peace Prize for his award-winning restaurant, The JBJ Soul Foundation Soul Kitchen Community Restaurant, that serves people in need in Red Bank, New Jersey on October 24th, 2019 at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Jon, from the popular band Bon Jovi, started his restaurant in 2011 with his wife Dorothea. Their mission is to create an exquisite dining experience for people to come in and eat, whether they have money to pay or not. There aren't any prices on the menu, but they do suggest a $20 donation or to volunteer in the kitchen. They have served nearly 106,000 meals since they started in 2011.
"It's a great environment. You walk in and feel like you are at a five-star restaurant instead of a food bank. Not only is the food great, but you can also volunteer if you can't pay for your meal. It makes me feel like I am part of a community that cares," states Mary Caputo, a regular at the restaurant.
The Nobel Peace Prize was started by Alfred Nobel. He was a Swedish inventor and weapons maker. Later, he became very interested in the process of peace. Upon his death, Nobel funded a series of prizes. There is a Nobel Prize for peace, chemistry, physics, medicine, and literature.
